I am so thankful to be able to share the Prayer Notebook Plan by Ruth Bumgardner with you.  Her system allows you to form a consistent plan for praying for your family.

When you are done praying, a small colorful post-it note will keep your place in your prayer notebook for you.  If you have short term prayer requests, she has a system that doesn’t involve messy, crossed out pages! By using a plastic business card holder, these short term requests can be easily in and out of your notebook.

I began to be interested in Ruth’s Prayer Notebook Plan because of my sister-in-law’s enthusiasm.  I was intrigued by the beginning pamphlet, “Pray about Praying.”  The pamphlet, included in the sample or full notebook, includes praying to “change my focus from my own satisfaction and happiness to Your (God’s)  glory and eternal purposes,”  a principle taken from the Bible.  (See Philippians 2: 13.)

Ruth Bumgardner says:

“As I reflect upon the things the Lord has taught me over the years, I can see how He has guided each one of my steps. The Lord has brought me to the realization that PRAYER must be a consistent priority for me to see Him do all that He can do in and through my life. After many years of learning I have come to the following two realizations that have yielded tremendous results in my life.”

  • A prayer notebook for The Glory of God
  • I learn from God’s Word what HIS goal is through my praying.
    The Value of Order
  • I seek God’s power to develop an organized prayer method that encourages consistency and focus.

The methods used in this prayer notebook can work for anyone. I have always struggled with order, so I know what it is like to so badly want to be organized and not have that natural inclination.

Through Praying About My Praying God has helped me develop a tool that I use and it can help you, too.

For this to be successful, you first must be faithful in praying about your praying.

Made by God

Remember you were made and fashioned by our wise heavenly Father who is well aware of your season of life.

The notebook comes with an easy to follow instruction booklet with illustrations. It takes prayer and effort to set it up, but once you do, you’ll find your prayer time a delight as you see God bring about His answers.

Comments from others:   “I am so grateful for my Prayer Notebook. For the first time in my life, I am not concerned about waiting until the product is finished before using it! This will be a lifelong notebook in process, and I am enjoying it every day.

I have had a notebook before, just listing verses and my request and date answered, but Ruth, your willingness to share how God has led in your prayer process and organization of this notebook has been for me one of the greatest blessings of my Christian walk.”

“My whole walk with God the last 12 years has been about what I can do for God. Now I am laying my requests before Him and letting Him do the work in and through me. The prayer notebook . . . is exactly what I needed. I believe it will change others as well.”

“Your method of prayer has totally changed my prayer life…. thank you…”

“I love being guided by what I’ve written down so I can pray for the eternal, not just the urgent. Also I know that I may not see how He answered those Big Prayers until eternity, but I also know that this is the right way to come to His throne.”

“. . . I’m finding it overwhelming at moments, as I carefully phrase my deepest concerns for people I love, especially my children and grandchildren, and find scripture promises for each prayer. Tears come quickly.”

Ps 19: 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight O Lord,my strength, and my redeemer #goalaccomplish1″ quote=”Take care of your spiritual needs first before you pray for others: Make sure your heart is right.”]

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in they sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

We often say that we want God to bless our children. After a recent devotional at church, I wrote down what God says about the blessed person.

I want my children to be blessed by God
  • not walking in the counsel of the ungodly
  • not standing in the way of sinners
  • not sitting with scorners
  • but delighting in the law of the Lord  (from Psalm1)
Prayer Notebook Ideas from Matthew 5
  1. I want my children to be humble (poor in spirit)
  2. When they mourn, God will provide comfort
  3. Meek (patient, long-sufffering)
  4. Hungering and thirsting for righteousness
  5. Merciful
  6. Pure in heart
  7. Making and maintaining peace
  8. And when persecuted that it would be for righteousness’ sake and on Christ’s account
For My Children:

Lord, I ask for my children that they might see their children saved when they are young. Help them to see their children grow up to be Godly young people, marry Godly people and see the next generation raising Godly families and serving You, Till your return. I ask this in the name of Your Son and my Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Psalm 102: 1, 2 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee. Hide not Your face from me in the day when I am in distress! Incline Your ear to me; in the day when I call, answer me speedily.

Psalm 119: 126 It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law.
